In Holland there are about 1500 under aged girls working as a prostitute. Often they are victims of so-called “loverboys”; young men who seduce the vulnerable girls and lure them into prostitution. The loverboys sole purpose is to make money out of this situation and to enrich themselves through the girls.
There is less known about under aged boys working in prostitution in the Netherlands, this goes for the number as well as for the underlying reasons or motives to work in prostitution. Minors who migrate here from (economically) poor countries are often victims of trafficking: a modern form of slave trade in which the youngsters are brought to here with the prospect of work or education but end up in prostitution.
The “Informatiepunt Jeugdprostitutie” is an information desk, where research, good practices and policy development is brought together. The Informatiepunt is aimed at stopping the prostitution of minors, rehabilitate the victims and persecute the offenders.
